The Tire Swing: A Memoir About Survival
Nancy felt like she was in a dream for a moment—-a nightmare. She couldn’t explain what snapped inside her, but she methodically grabbed tubing, IV solution, alcohol and needles from the cart. She wasn’t frightened, her heart continued to pound, but now it was with excitement.
As she approached one of the burned and disfigured young men on a stretcher, his eyes held a look of panic she would never forget. She laid her hand on his chest and said, “I’m Nancy, a nurse, and I am going to take care of you. I have to start an IV in your arm or ankle so I can give you some medicine to make you more comfortable. I won’t leave you alone.”
He blinked his one eye that was not burned and tried to say something. She bent down near his face. The smell of burned skin and flesh was overpowering, but didn’t bother her now. She focused on his face.
“Don’t let me die…….” He whispered, his throat so badly burned from the fire, the words were barely distinguishable.
“I promise,” she said with all the confidence she could muster. “I promise. What is your name?”
INDIGO-35
YOUR THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR OWN.
Erin Coutcher, a brilliant young scientist, is recruited into a covert Swiss mountain facility under the guise of finding solutions to Earth’s agricultural crisis. But what she discovers is far more dire: Project Indigo-35 is humanity’s last hope against impending planetary collapse. Deep beneath a secluded alpine resort, an underground hangar conceals starships being prepared for an exodus; a desperate escape from a dying Earth facing cosmic [annihilation]. Guided by the enigmatic SIES corporation under the ruthless leadership of Gerald Proctor, Erin finds herself entangled in a race against time, collaborating under intense surveillance to launch missions beyond our solar system.
As Earth teeters on the edge of annihilation, a buried truth is unearthed: advanced emotionless beings from a distant system, the Apellonauts, have been covertly studying and harvesting our world’s nitrogen to sustain their own.
Now, they have offered humanity a perilous alliance-and a passage through a wormhole to Indigo-35, their distant world.
In this gripping sci-fi epic, the fate of humanity hinges on a harrowing exodus and the forging of an interspecies alliance.
If the journey to Indigo-35 is humanity’s only hope,
what will it cost to survive?
Isla and the Imaginary Iguana
I’m Isla, and in this book you’ll meet my Iguana, Ivan. Well, my grandma says Ivan is a stuffed animal, not a real Iguana. It’s okay though. Ivan is softer and cuddlier than the one at the zoo. But I still like going to the zoo and other places with my family because I can learn new words. I have a list of words that gets longer every day! If you like to learn and explore too, I hope you’ll join me on all my little adventures.
A Penny for your Thoughts
A Penny for Your Thoughts follows Mattie, a young vaudeville performer struggling to make her mark as the golden age of live entertainment begins to fade. From the shadows of worn theater curtains to smoke-filled audiences and uncertain paydays, Mattie and her uncle take the stage night after night, hoping one performance might change their fortunes.
As sound films rise and vaudeville declines, the story captures the grit, charm, and quiet desperation of performers fighting to stay relevant in a world that is moving on without them. Rich in historical detail and emotion, A Penny for Your Thoughts is a poignant glimpse into ambition, resilience, and the cost of chasing a dream.
Mitered Corners
The story opens with a moment of devastating intimacy shattered by sudden crisis. Ed, weakened by illness and years of hardship, is struck without warning by a violent attack that leaves him gasping for breath and fighting for his life. What begins as a quiet hospital vigil quickly descends into chaos as his condition deteriorates before the eyes of Mary and Helen, transforming fear into irreversible loss.
Through this harrowing event, the narrative explores the fragility of life and the helplessness of those forced to witness suffering they cannot stop. Mary’s perspective anchors the story emotionally, capturing the shock, terror, and disorientation that accompany sudden tragedy. The hospital room becomes more than a setting it is a crucible where love, mortality, and grief collide.
With restrained prose and emotional precision, the story confronts the brutal reality of illness and the lasting imprint of trauma. It is a sobering meditation on human vulnerability, the bonds that endure under pressure, and the moments that permanently alter the course of those left behind.

Bernard Bartholomew Bostlebean and the Brilliant Beginning
Bernard Bartholomew Bostlebean (Bernard Bartholomew Bostlebean's Adventures)
Bernard Bartholomew Bostlebean is a boy who is the result of a marriage between Zort and Pat. Zort was from a planet deep in outer space, hidden from observation equipment from other planets by a large star. Pat, a cashier in a hat store, was a little different than other humans. She and Zort hit it off, fell in love and married. 3B (what we call Bartholomew because it is a long name) is their child. Because he had the unusual features and powers of his father and the different features of his mother, 3B was teased by other children and sometimes, adults. When he demonstrated his powers by rescuing a boy who fell into a well, the other children and adults made him a hero. The two other chapters are adventures that he and his parents are involved in. The moral of the stories is that it doesn’t matter what you look like, or how you talk, you are special and deserve respect.
